About the Haas F1 Team

The American Entrepreneur, Gene Haas, brought his Haas brand into Formula 1 in 2016 having previously founded the NASCAR team Haas CNC Racing.

Haas purchased the headquarters of the defunct Manor team in Banbury and in April 2014 announced its intention to enter the F1 World Championship, the first American team to do so since the mid-1980s.

At its debut race at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix, Haas shocked the F1 Paddock by securing a remarkable sixth-place finish with new recruit Romain Grosjean at the wheel, thus becoming the first F1 team to score points on its debut since Toyota in 2002. At the next race, Haas went one better with Grosjean yet again the star. The Frenchman memorably declared his Haas team to be “living the American dream” as he crossed the line in a stunning fifth place.

After finishing a respectable eighth place in the constructors’ championship during its debut season, Haas made steady progress; doubling its points tally in its second season before finishing an impressive fifth overall in 2018 with a new driver pairing of Grosjean and former McLaren and Renault driver Kevin Magnussen.

Despite often performing well over one lap in qualifying, Haas endured a difficult season in 2019 with a car that was difficult to set up for races. Highlights included a best result of sixth for Kevin Magnussen in the season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

Now in its sixth season competing at the pinnacle of motorsport, the Haas F1 Team have cemented their credentials as a respectable and professional Grand Prix outfit and have quickly amassed a loyal following, which grew yet further last year when eccentric team principal Guenther Steiner became the standout star of the F1 Netflix documentary, Drive to Survive.
