Lando Norris biography

At just 19 years of age, Lando Norris is quickly becoming one of F1’s brightest talents, and his performances for McLaren during the first half of this year have marked him out as one to watch in the seasons to come.

Norris’ career trajectory has been nothing short of phenomenal in recent years, with titles in MSA Formula, Toyota Racing Series, Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and FIA European Formula 3 already on his CV.

Nine podiums, including a dominant debut win, was enough to secure Norris a runner-up spot in his first and only full season in the competitive FIA F2 Championship. Remarkably, it was the first year since 2011 that the young Brit had not been crowned champion of the series he had raced in.

Already on the F1 radar by this point, it was the coveted McLaren Autosport BRDC Award title he won two years earlier that earned Norris a first F1 test that would ultimately be the turning point in his career.

His impressive performances led to him being snapped up by the British team to become its official test and reserve driver for 2018, before graduating to the race team a year later as team-mate to Spanish racer Carlos Sainz.

With McLaren’s resurgence showing no signs of stopping, Norris has been one of the standout performers this year, leading team boss Zak Brown to announce an extension to his contract just nine races into his rookie campaign.

Aside from F1 racing, Norris has also caught the eye on the sportscar racing scene, with his one-off performance at the 2018 Daytona 24 Hours earning high praise from decorated team-mate Fernando Alonso.

An avid sim racer in his spare time, Norris has quickly become a fans favourite and is known to regularly engage with supporters via social media and the popular live streaming platform Twitch.
