Turn 1 (Zone 1,2,3,4)
Turn 1 spectators will be able to witness up-close the sheer skill of a Formula One™ driver. The Turn 1 Grandstand runs along the outside of the main straight, and the entry to Sheares Corner, Turn 1. This is a steep left-hander, and one of the circuit’s main overtaking spots as the drivers jostle for the best position.
Spectators will experience the awesome braking power of a Formula One™ car as they negotiate the first corner after reaching speeds of 290km/h along the Pit Straight. Fans here witnessed Felipe Massa’s Ferrari sustain a puncture in the first lap of 2012’s incident-packed race, following a collision with Vitaly Petrov’s Caterham. In 2009, Mark Webber’s Red Bull hit the barriers at Turn 2 as a result of a right front brake failure, ending his race prematurely.
