With next season being the final year before a major overhaul of the regulations, the teams and drivers will all be looking to sign off in style when F1 arrives in the Middle East for the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The iconic Yas Marina Circuit, home to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix since 2009, is one of the most unique and picturesque circuits on the entire F1 calendar and provides the perfect backdrop to celebrate the end of the F1 season.

Likely to take place in late November, visitors can expect warm weather with temperatures in the mid-to-late 20s with little chance of rain. The circuit is situated about 30 minutes from the capital of the UAE, making it an excellent option for fans looking to combine a trip to the race with a break in nearby Dubai.

Be there in 2021 with F1 Experiences in the Champions Club

With an F1 Experiences Champions Club package, you’ll have the option of either a 2 or 3-night stay in five-star accommodation plus exclusive VIP hospitality throughout your stay and some of the best views of the circuit available.

You’ll see that there’s no place quite like Abu Dhabi to experience F1 as you watch the action unfold from the VIP Trackside Terrace or in the more glamorous setting of F1 Experiences’ exclusive trackside yacht, should you prefer.

With Guided Paddock Access providing you with the chance to immerse yourself in the action, you’ll also get a unique opportunity to chat with a legendary or current F1 driver in the relaxed setting of the Champions Club – an opportunity not to be missed.

Memorable Abu Grand Prix moments

A popular destination for UK fans due to its favourable climate and short flight time, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix has served up its fair share of drama over the years. From tense title deciders and double points to a last ever F1 appearance for Spanish legend Fernando Alonso, fans attending the Abu Dhabi have seen it all.

One of the most memorable Abu Dhabi Grands Prix came back in 2010 when remarkably four drivers entered the final race with a chance of securing the championship.

With Alonso entering the race eight points clear of Mark Webber and 13 clear of his Red Bull team-mate Sebastian Vettel, the odds seemed to be heavily in favour of the Spaniard securing a first Ferrari title in his maiden year with the team.

But when Ferrari opted to pit Alonso to cover off what they thought was his main rival, the Red Bull of Webber, they found themselves stuck behind the Renault of Vitaly Petrov for much of the second half of the race.

Unable to overtake, Alonso’s frustration was evident as Vettel romped to a comfortable win to take an unlikely first drivers’ title win at the tender age of 23 years and 134 days, eclipsing Alonso’s record as F1’s youngest champion.

Two years later, we witnessed a popular win for Kimi Räikkönen in the Lotus, his first since returning the sport following a two-year sabbatical. The most memorable aspect of that win though was Raikkonen’s hilarious dismissal of his engineer’s instructions and the now-famous radio message of “Leave me alone, I know what I’m doing!”

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix has often been a closely contested affair, with four of the past races being decided by a winning margin of four seconds or less, but the closest ever and perhaps the tensest of all came in 2016.

With a winning margin of 0.439s, Lewis Hamilton secured the win from pole position but team-mate Nico Rosberg’s second-place finish was enough for him to secure a first-ever world driver’s title win.

The race was memorable for two reasons. Firstly, it was a tense climax to the heated Hamilton v Rosberg rivalry that had played out that season and fans witnessed Hamilton deliberately slow in the hope that Rosberg would be overtaken and lose the podium finish he needed to secure the title.

Secondly, we’d later discover that the race was, in fact, Rosberg’s final ever as an F1 driver as he announced his retirement just five days after the race, bringing down the curtain on his career and the end of one of the tensest team-mate rivalries the sport has ever seen.
